As described in the last part, you briefly isolate a Fe group from red blood cells that has magnetic qualities, then tug it into a direction with electromagnetic powers and quickly return it to the cell in order not to break it. Do it quickly enough and you're essentially dangling red blood cells along a magnetic string.

Usually you need to have a specialization in iron in order to have so much control over it you can strip it from blood cells (like the knights), but magic of such specialists can freely travel through the network to help others. It also helps that a good chunk of the country lies in this red rust desert, so by natural selection it has lots of people specializing in iron.
